Ark of the Covenant as depicted in ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ (Paramount Pictures)The patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia says he will announce to the world Friday the unveiling of the Ark of the Covenant, perhaps the world’s most prized archaeological and spiritual artifact, which he says has been hidden away in a church in his country for millennia, according to the Italian news agency Adnkronos.
Abuna Pauolos, in Italy for a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI this week, told the news agency, “Soon the world will be able to admire the Ark of the Covenant described in the Bible as the container of the tablets of the law that God delivered to Moses and the center of searches and studies for centuries.”
The announcement is expected to be made at 2 p.m. Italian time from the Hotel Aldrovandi in Rome. Pauolos will reportedly be accompanied by Prince Aklile Berhan Makonnen Haile Sellassie and Duke Amedeo D’Acosta.
Abuna Pauolos, patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia“The Ark of the Covenant is in Ethiopia for many centuries,” said Pauolos. “As a patriarch I have seen it with my own eyes and only few highly qualified persons could do the same, until now.”
According to Pauolos, the actual Ark has been kept in one church, but to defend the treasure, a copy was placed in every single church in Ethiopia.
He said a museum is being built in Axum, Ethiopia, where the Ark will be displayed. A foundation of D’Acosta will fund the project.
The Ark of the Covenant is the sacred container of the Ten Commandments as well as Aaron’s rod and a sample of manna, the mysterious food that kept the Israelites alive while wandering in the wilderness during their journey to the promised land.
The Bible says the Ark was built to the specifications of God as He spoke to Moses. It was carried in advance of the people and their army by priests. It was also carried in a seven-day procession around the walled city of Jericho.

The idea that the Ark is presently in Ethiopia is a well-documented, albeit disputed, tradition dating back to at least 642 B.C. The tradition says it was moved to Elephantine Island in Egypt, then to Tana Kirkos Island in Ethiopia and finally to its present site at St. Mary’s of Zion Church in Axum.
Ethiopians believe it is destined to be delivered to the Messiah when He reigns on Mount Zion – the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
Jeremiah 3:16 points to a time when the Ark will vanish not only physically, but from the minds of the people: “And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.”
The Book of Revelation says the Ark is in the temple of God in heaven (Rev. 11:19). Muslim scholars say it will be found near the end of times by the Mahdi – a messianic figure in Islam.

Who cares about a fake ‘Ark of the Covenant.’ Stephan Huller has an academic article coming up which proves that this:
http://therealmessiahbook.blogspot.com/
is the original Episcopal throne of Alexandria, mentioned in the Acts of Peter the Patriarch, Origen, Clement and other sources and dated to the first century.
I read the book. I loved it but I want to know what everyone else thinks? I think its very important but I am not an expert.
His blog with additional information is

Maybe you can tell me if this for real.

Stephan Huller?
Let’s look at just a couple of his statements on his current (6/26/09) front page of his blogspot.
He writes:
“Jesus did not resurrect himself, as the Evangelicals seem to imagine. He was very very dead, stone-dead, and was resurrected by God.”
Compare this to Holy Scripture which states:
– John 2:19 “Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up”
In this one statement, Jesus Christ tells of His part in resurrecting His own body, from the dead.
How about Huller’s statements about Moses. Huller writes:
“I take this verse to refer to those that were somehow saved by the willingness of Moses to die with them and protect them by his greater merit or level of existence…” … this Mr Huller wrote after writing:
“But Moses couldn’t drag the people up to his own level. The best he could do was to save them from annihilation by bearing their guilt (= imperfection) and dying with them instead of crossing the Jordan.”
But is this what the Holy Scriptures teach? No. The Scriptures actually teach:
Deut 32:48-52 — On that same day the Lord told Moses, “Go up into the Abarim Range to Mount Nebo in Moab, across from Jericho, and view Canaan, the land I am giving the Israelites as their own possession. There on the mountain that you have climbed you will die and be gathered to your people, just as your brother Aaron died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people. This is because both of you broke faith with me in the presence of the Israelites at the waters of Meribah Kadesh in the Desert of Zin and because you did not uphold my holiness among the Israelites. Therefore, you will see the land only from a distance; you will not enter the land I am giving to the people of Israel.”
God and Scripture does not show Moses as being ‘holy’ or able to save the Israelites with his death. In fact the opposite is shown. God states that Moses was to die without being able to enter the Promised Land, because of Moses’ own sin or disobedience, as he “broke faith” at Meribah!
Mr Huller’s next statement seems to imply that Jesus Christ did NOT resurrect into or with a physical body, when he writes:
“When Jesus was resurrected it was into the spiritual body, which does not mean insubstantial, but on the contrary even more physically present. As he said, “I am not a ghost”. This body belonged to the coming perfected world.”
Again, this would be contrary to the Holy Scriptures, the living and eternal Word of God Almighty, Who tells us in His Word:
Luke 24:39 – Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. (And then Jesus went on to eat broiled fish, to show His disciples, He indeed was a resurrected Man, with flesh and bones — the blood had been spilled / shed for the remission of the sins of the world)
Mr Huller totally “tips his hand” and reveals his true beliefs, near the end of his post when he writes:
“I think it also means that Jesus before the Resurrection and Ascension could not be more than human…”
This is contrary to sound doctrine, contained within the Holy Scriptures, which tell us:
– Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born … and his name shall be called … The MIGHTY GOD, The EVERLASTING FATHER …”.
–1 Timothy 3:16 “God was manifest in the flesh”
– Philippians 2:5-7 “Christ Jesus: Who, being in VERY NATURE GOD …”
–Matthew 1:23 “and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
I stopped reading his article at this point, because 1-it is past midnight, and I have an early morning appointment, and 2- because he goes on to quote “Jewish metaphysical texts”, thus showing me once again, that he is not a True Believer in Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, Who was God in the flesh ….. 1 John 1:1 – “In the beginning was the Word, … and the Word was God”.
If you desire to worship the true Jesus Christ of the New Testament, Mr. Alan Paron Dithers, then I would suggest you keep to reading the New Testament.
Who cares about a “fake Ark of the Covenant” indeed.
Who cares even about a real “Ark of the Covenant”, actually. (it is simply an indicator that the End of This Age draws near … I can write more on the topic regarding why True Believers should NOT worship at the 3rd Temple Mount, if it is indeed built while we are still on this earth).
The fact is, True Believers are NOT to worship articles or locations, but God Himself.
Yes, we have been given the great God Almighty Himself, in the flesh, to live for us, then die for us, then resurrect for us … so that we may have True knowledge and True life.
Praise to Jesus Christ our Lord, Who saves us from the coming wrath! (1 Thess 1:10)
–John 5:39 (you) search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (KJV)

An interesting way of proving (verifying) the correct details for the return of Christ is by using the ‘Bible End Time Toolkit’.
The principle is very simple: take every verse in the whole bible that is an event to do with the return of Christ and use them as a checklist against any idea, theory or book on the subject. The Toolkit is 200 bible verses printed on separate cards.
The test is: any theory must include every event and at the same time not add extra ‘bits’ in.
‘The Bible End Time Toolkit’ collection of verses is freely available as a PDF and can be taken to a local copy shop to be printed out for your own use. Enjoy your study!
