The following 9 points are taken from Derek Prince’s teaching entitled,
Take Heed That You Are Not Deceived“.

I have added supporting Scriptures beneath each of the points that he gives.

Derek believes that by observing these 9 points we can keep ourselves from being deceived in the End Times.

1 – Remember that it is by God’s mercy that we will not be deceived

We should humbly accept this Truth and thank Him for guarding us.

John 3:27, “John answered, ‘A person cannot receive even one thing unless it is given him from heaven.’ ”

2 – It is by cultivating humility and a Fear of the Lord that we will be kept from deception.

Derek then quotes Proverbs 9:10, The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom
Proverbs 1:7, The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge“.

He then states that  the fear of the Lord is THE BEGINNING, meaning it is the foundational Truth for wisdom and knowledge.

3 – We must base absolutely everything … every experience, every prophecy, every doctrine, etc … on the Scriptures.

Psalm 119:160 “The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever”

4 – We need to focus on Jesus alone, and not extra spiritual revelation because the Word says:

For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus(Revelation 19:10)
But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify Me because it is from Me that He will receive what He will make known to you(John 16:13-14).

Don’t these 2 Scriptures show clearly that prophecy should be glorifying JESUS and not man?!

5 – We need to leave extra revelation with God.  If He wants to show us something, He will.  We should not be obsessed with new revelation / special revelation.

“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law” (Deuteronomy 29:29)

6 – We need to be wary of fantastic sounding prophecies and new revelation.  Fantasy abounds within the charismatic prophetic circles these days, and will only get worse.  Stay within the boundaries of Scripture!
Colossians 2:18, “Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind.”
7 – Keep things simple and plain.  Paul spoke of “the simplicity of the Gospel”.  It is the pride and arrogance of man that makes one want to sound wise or extra spiritual.

“For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin. But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:2-3, NASB)

8 – Cultivate discernment!  Don’t sit in any meeting, or listen to any preacher/teacher, without checking and weighing and judging all things said against the written Word of God.

1 Corinthians 14:29, “Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said.”
9 – Cultivate a LOVE of the Truth.  Not just a toleration of Truth, nor an acceptance so that if it is spoken around you, you are okay with it, but cultivate a hunger and desire and love for Truth.  A strong passion and desire to read and get into God’s Word and a desire to study and know God’s Word for yourself.

“The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.” (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10)

An absolute love for the Truth will be the only way that we will be able to discern if a lie is being preached!

My ending thought:

If we LOVE the Truth, we will want to stand on the Truth and stand up for Truth NO MATTER what the consequences!  We will not go with the flow and accept what the crowd accepts to keep “unity” or to spare ourselves from being ostracized and persecuted!  We will LOVE the Truth no matter what and stand up for the Truth in the exact literal way in which it is written!

God bless you abundantly as you stand for Truth and look for the coming of our Savior and Lord!

We know from Scripture that satan loves to copy the things of God (ie: when Pharaoh’s magicians copied and performed the same signs and miracles that Moses performed — Exodus 7:11-12) and so we know that in the End Times, satan will be copying the things of God in order to deceive the world … and the Church! … into thinking that he is God.

Even as Jesus is currently preparing for Himself a Bride, holy and pure, who loves Truth, who lives in the power of the True Holy Spirit, and who is readying herself for Christ’s Return, we can see that satan is also preparing for himself a false bride.  A false bride who is not concerned with holiness, who is rebellious to the commands and the Word of God, who doesn’t love the Truth of God, who operates in witch-craft and lying signs and wonders, and who is being prepared for anti-Christ’s appearing!

This satanic bride is a false bride, springing up from the midst of the True Bride, even as foretold by the Apostles in the New Testament.

Yes, There Will Be A Great End Time Revival …
but it will be Satanic, as foretold in 2 Thessalonians

1 – Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him (= the Rapture!), we ask you, brothers, 2 – not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.
3 – Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion (the “apostasy” NASB; the “falling away” KJV) comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 – who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.  5 – Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? 6 – And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. 7 – For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. 8 – And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. 9 – The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 – and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 – Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, 12 – in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
– 2 Thessalonians 2

The Man of Lawlessness will not be revealed until there is a great “falling away” from Truth, within the Church … a deliberate rejection of revealed, basic, and orthodox Truth … and as many are aware, this great falling away from the basic Truths of the Word is currently taking place within every denomination of the Church!

Satan is not so concerned with getting the world to fall for his deceptive ways because he already has them bound up in deception: the deception of liberalism, or socialism, or atheism, or islam, etc.  Yes, he will deceive the entire world into believing he is the man of the hour, the one to bring world peace, and the prophesied coming Messiah according to many of the world religions, but first, he must get the True Bride to fall for his deceptive lies!

He needs a weak and disobedient Church who cannot discern between right and wrong any longer.  He needs a Church who is not concerned with the Word of God, but who is a lover of self.  Such a Church will fall easily for his sweet and seductive lies!  Such a Church, who is more concerned with self and comfort and ease, will allow an “anything goes” doctrine to infiltrate the Church and take the Church over.   And it is this breaking away from Truth which allows sin and lawlessness to grow and abound, not just in the Church but also in the world.

Apostasy IS here and apostasy is growing and many are departing from the Truth of Scripture, and this great apostasy that is growing reveals to True Believers that the revealing of anti-Christ … and the Return of Jesus … is drawing near.

When Truth … which is Jesus (John 1:1) … is removed from Christ’s Church, a vacuum is formed leaving room for another to take the place of Jesus, and it is anti-Christ himself,  the Man of Lawlessness, who is getting ready to take the place of Jesus.

For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 – who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.
– 2 Thessalonians 2

Apostasy IS in full-swing but something worse is coming!

The Man of Lawlessness is preparing for his appearance and he will appear to be adored and to be praised and to be worshiped by all people … even amongst those who call themselves Christians!

He will bring the answer to world peace:

2 – For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 – While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
– 1 Thessalonians 5

He will come with magnificent signs and wonders:

9 – The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 – and with all wicked deception
– 2 Thessalonians 2

And he will come and deceive many:

24 – For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
– Matthew 24

Where will anti-Christ come from?

According to Scripture, it appears that the anti-Christ will come out of the Church:

18 – Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. 19 – They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.
– 1 John 2

Notice how John states, “They went out from us”?

Also, when comparing Scripture with Scripture, we see that the term “son of perdition” (KJV) or “son of destruction” (ESV) was only used one other time in Scripture, when speaking of Judas, a false disciple:

While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
– John 17:12, KJV (or “son of destruction”, ESV)

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition
– 2 Thessalonians 2:3, KJV (or “son of destruction”, ESV)

It seems that the anti-Christ could be a false disciple and come from the very ranks of the Church!  A person who LOOKS like a True Christian, who TALKS like a True Christian, and who even performs signs and wonders … like Judas! … yet who is a deceiver!

The outcome of the End Time apostasy will be a Harlot Church, ready and eager for her false christ!

For even as Christ is preparing His True Church whom He will Return for, so satan is preparing his false church whom he will appear for!

Both the True Christ and the false christ have brides!

One is spotless and holy and filled with the Holy Spirit and the other is filthy, and lawless and filled with the apostate spirit which stands against God’s Holy Truth:

1 – Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons
– 1 Timothy 4

1 – But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 – heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 – treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 – having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.
– 2 Timothy 3

The False Church will be filled with love-of-self and greed and idolatry, empowered by witch-craft (lying signs and wonders) and will persecute and kill those who belong to the True Church! (Revelation 17 & 18).

Heads Up Saints!  Keep your eyes on the prize of Jesus Christ, our soon to Return conquering King!  Keep reading and obeying the Word of God so that you can avoid this great End Time deception!  And keep yourself pure and spotless:

but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 3  – And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.
– 1 John 3

Many times, Christians do not stop to consider the real reason why bad things are happening to them.  Of course we have an enemy and “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” in our lives, (Ephesians 6:12), however, how many times do we consider that WE might be the cause of our troubles?

Consider the below Passage of Scripture:

5  – and the men of Ai killed about thirty-six of (the people of Israel) and chased them before the gate as far as Shebarim and struck them at the descent. And the hearts of the people melted and became as water.

6  – Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until the evening, he and the elders of Israel. And they put dust on their heads. 7  – And Joshua said, “Alas, O Lord God, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to give us into the hands of the Amorites, to destroy us? Would that we had been content to dwell beyond the Jordan!  – Joshua 7

Joshua, like many of us, did not even think about the possibility that the Israelites were to blame for their defeat in their battle against Ai!  How proud … or how ignorant … and the same goes for us!

Many times we moan and wonder “Where is God in the middle of my trouble? Doesn’t He hear my cries to get me out of this? Doesn’t He care at all?” and yet, many times, we never even dare to think that something is wrong with US.  Perhaps WE are doing something that is causing defeat in our lives or trouble to follow us.

Really?  Are you wondering how this could be true for a New Covenant Believer, since Jesus paid to break the curse off us and to bring us blessings? (ie: Galatians 3:13)

Let’s consider this next Passage:

6  – Now these things took place (to the Israelites) as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did. 7  – Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” 8  – We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. 9  – We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, 10  – nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. 11  – Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. 12  – Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.  – 1 Corinthians 10

The Old and New Testaments are for our instruction

The Old and New Testaments are for our instruction

Twice Paul states that the Old Testament is written for us to learn from!  The Old Testament stories of the Jews destruction and failings are written to warn us to avoid doing the same thing, lest we too incur judgment, at best, or the Wrath of God, at worst!

Yet too many Christians live their lives any ol’ way they want and expect that God’s blessings should still follow them.  I even hear some quote the Promises of God while fully expecting the Promises to be reality in their lives, and they can’t figure out why in the world the Promises don’t manifest in their lives and why they can’t get a break in life … or a “break-through” as charismatics like to say 😉 .

1 Corinthians 11 teaches:

30  – That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.  31  – But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged. 32  – But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.

You see, it is actually God’s mercy when we don’t get a break-through, if we are living in consistent sin.  He is trying to get our attention!  He is trying to draw us to our knees, in prayer and in repentance!  And He would like for us to pick up His Word and read it, so that He could actually speak to us and discipline and correct us through His Word!

21  – Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. – James 1

The Word will enlighten us regarding where we are going astray, and the Word has the ability to “save” our souls.  In other words, the Word of God is the power of God to not only enlighten us to see where we are wrong, but it has Godly power to actually change us on the inside.  How else does the Fruit of the Spirit start to grow in us?  It is a wonderful, mysterious thing, that God can actually CHANGE us on the inside just by us reading His Word!

The Lord spoke to Joshua, but only after Joshua stayed on his face before the Ark of the Covenant until evening! (read Joshua 7).  And the Lord said:

10  – The Lord said to Joshua, “Get up! Why have you fallen on your face? 11  – Israel has sinned; they have transgressed my covenant that I commanded them; they have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen and lied and put them among their own belongings. 12  – Therefore the people of Israel cannot stand before their enemies. They turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become devoted for destruction.  – Joshua 7

Stay on your face before the Lord, in His Word!  Stay on your face before the Lord, in worship! And stay on your face before the Lord, in prayer UNTIL you HEAR from the Lord about what is going on!  He might say, “Stay in faith, this attack is from the enemy” but He just might say, “Clean up your life in such-and-such an area”.

Of course …

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.  – Hebrews 12:11, NIV

God bless you as you seek for answers regarding trials in your life and as you walk towards your heavenly goal, and may God free you from any gripping sin that wants to destroy you.   Amen.

1  – Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of bodya and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.  – 2 Corinthians 7
