Below are some Scriptures which show that the life of a Christian parallels the life of Christ:  His life, His death, His resurrection are all examples of how the True Disciple will live!

If we really want to be like Jesus on this Earth, we should remember that He was humble, He was obedient to God’s will always, and He came to serve man-kind.

Philippians 2, ESV

5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

In the same way that Christ served God and man, so Christians must desire to be humble, we must desire to do God’s will, and we must desire to serve others.

Matthew 23, ESV

11 The greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Philippians 2, ESV

3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus…

The Lord Jesus Christ did not just tell us what to “do” in order to be saved, but He showed us “how” to do it.

Hebrews 12, ESV

2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

“Eyes on the prize, Eyes on the prize” is the pep-talk that I give to myself when things are difficult.  By keeping my eyes on the prize … which is the salvation of my soul (1 Peter 1:9) … I can keep myself encouraged to not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9), even as Jesus did in order to get through the shame and agony of the Cross.

The Old Testament Prophets and the New Testament writers tell us of Christ’s death by crucifixion.   How many Believers today know, or understand, that we too must die to our own wills and live only for God and for God’s purpose?

Galatians 2, ESV

20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Luke 9:23, ESV

23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Christ speaks of a DAILY dying to our own wants and desires in order to follow Christ and do God’s will,  and if we will follow this pattern of putting our flesh and desires to death daily, we can then expect to be resurrected in the same way that Christ was.

Hosea 6, ESV

1 “Come, let us return to the Lord; for he has torn us, that he may heal us; he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.
2 After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will raise us up, that we may live before him.

Even as the Lord Jesus was raised from the dead on the third day, so the Body of Christ will be raised on the “third day”.

According to 2 Peter 3, 1 day is like 1,000 years and so it is thought that the resurrection of the Body of Christ (which is the resurrection of True Believers from the grave, along with the rapture of True Believers who are alive from the Earth … 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17) will occur during the “third day”, or the third millennium, after Christ’s death:

2 Peter 8, ESV

8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

But can any of us expect to be resurrected like Christ was, if we will not follow the other patterns of Christ? The pattern of faith to over-come hard trials, the pattern of obedience to God and denying our own desires?  Can any of us really believe that we will be resurrected like Jesus Christ without living like Jesus Christ?

We can live assured that if we LIVE like Jesus Christ, we will indeed be resurrected like Jesus Christ, because the life of every True Believe is to follow Christ’s pattern and be a living example to the world of Who Jesus Christ really is.

1 John 4, ESV

17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.

1 John 2, ESV

6whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

May God’s grace and peace be upon all who believe God at His Word and who desire to be just like Jesus!

Many times, Christians do not stop to consider the real reason why bad things are happening to them.  Of course we have an enemy and “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” in our lives, (Ephesians 6:12), however, how many times do we consider that WE might be the cause of our troubles?

Consider the below Passage of Scripture:

5  – and the men of Ai killed about thirty-six of (the people of Israel) and chased them before the gate as far as Shebarim and struck them at the descent. And the hearts of the people melted and became as water.

6  – Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord until the evening, he and the elders of Israel. And they put dust on their heads. 7  – And Joshua said, “Alas, O Lord God, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to give us into the hands of the Amorites, to destroy us? Would that we had been content to dwell beyond the Jordan!  – Joshua 7

Joshua, like many of us, did not even think about the possibility that the Israelites were to blame for their defeat in their battle against Ai!  How proud … or how ignorant … and the same goes for us!

Many times we moan and wonder “Where is God in the middle of my trouble? Doesn’t He hear my cries to get me out of this? Doesn’t He care at all?” and yet, many times, we never even dare to think that something is wrong with US.  Perhaps WE are doing something that is causing defeat in our lives or trouble to follow us.

Really?  Are you wondering how this could be true for a New Covenant Believer, since Jesus paid to break the curse off us and to bring us blessings? (ie: Galatians 3:13)

Let’s consider this next Passage:

6  – Now these things took place (to the Israelites) as examples for us, that we might not desire evil as they did. 7  – Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.” 8  – We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. 9  – We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, 10  – nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. 11  – Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. 12  – Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.  – 1 Corinthians 10

The Old and New Testaments are for our instruction

The Old and New Testaments are for our instruction

Twice Paul states that the Old Testament is written for us to learn from!  The Old Testament stories of the Jews destruction and failings are written to warn us to avoid doing the same thing, lest we too incur judgment, at best, or the Wrath of God, at worst!

Yet too many Christians live their lives any ol’ way they want and expect that God’s blessings should still follow them.  I even hear some quote the Promises of God while fully expecting the Promises to be reality in their lives, and they can’t figure out why in the world the Promises don’t manifest in their lives and why they can’t get a break in life … or a “break-through” as charismatics like to say 😉 .

1 Corinthians 11 teaches:

30  – That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.  31  – But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged. 32  – But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.

You see, it is actually God’s mercy when we don’t get a break-through, if we are living in consistent sin.  He is trying to get our attention!  He is trying to draw us to our knees, in prayer and in repentance!  And He would like for us to pick up His Word and read it, so that He could actually speak to us and discipline and correct us through His Word!

21  – Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. – James 1

The Word will enlighten us regarding where we are going astray, and the Word has the ability to “save” our souls.  In other words, the Word of God is the power of God to not only enlighten us to see where we are wrong, but it has Godly power to actually change us on the inside.  How else does the Fruit of the Spirit start to grow in us?  It is a wonderful, mysterious thing, that God can actually CHANGE us on the inside just by us reading His Word!

The Lord spoke to Joshua, but only after Joshua stayed on his face before the Ark of the Covenant until evening! (read Joshua 7).  And the Lord said:

10  – The Lord said to Joshua, “Get up! Why have you fallen on your face? 11  – Israel has sinned; they have transgressed my covenant that I commanded them; they have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen and lied and put them among their own belongings. 12  – Therefore the people of Israel cannot stand before their enemies. They turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become devoted for destruction.  – Joshua 7

Stay on your face before the Lord, in His Word!  Stay on your face before the Lord, in worship! And stay on your face before the Lord, in prayer UNTIL you HEAR from the Lord about what is going on!  He might say, “Stay in faith, this attack is from the enemy” but He just might say, “Clean up your life in such-and-such an area”.

Of course …

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.  – Hebrews 12:11, NIV

God bless you as you seek for answers regarding trials in your life and as you walk towards your heavenly goal, and may God free you from any gripping sin that wants to destroy you.   Amen.

1  – Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of bodya and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.  – 2 Corinthians 7

…for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2 Corinthians 3:6b, NIV

This piece of Scripture has been quoted to me, more than once, when I make the statement that “I am trying to literally follow what the New Testament says to do” as I try to deal with sinning brothers, or when I defend my departing from fellow believers who are divisive or gossips or sexual immoral, or when I defend my staying away from teachers and their followers who are embracing new twists on the Gospel.

When the above Scripture is quoted to me, the insinuation is that my stand on the Word is legalistic and harsh and the ones who quote this Scripture are wishing that I would just “walk in love” or “walk in unity“.

It has been said to my face that I am “not loving as Christ loved” when I am departing from people and/or congregations.

The Veil is Torn

But is that what 2 Corinthians 3:6b really means?  Isn’t the entire Word supposed to support and uphold the same meaning and teachings throughout the whole Bible?  Now of course, I understand that the Old Covenant’s external rules and regulations have been replaced with the New Covenant’s internal rules which deal with our heart attitudes,  but does that mean that we are now free to swim around in sin without guilt or party with sinners since we all are under grace now and commanded to love?

No, is the answer to these questions and this is the debate the Apostle Paul confronted head-on while in ministry and in his written letters.

1– What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?
2– By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
Romans 6:1, NIV

14– Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
15– What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
16– What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God.
2 Corinthians 6, NIV

But besides my having to deal with carnal Christians’ incorrect interpretation of 2 Corinthians 3:6b, this verse recently got me thinking about how one is to LIVE by the Spirit of God vs living under a heavy-handed and condemning legalistic preaching or way of thinking.

For by white-knuckling our way through life, by seeing God as a hard task-master, and by obeying the do’s and don’ts of the New Testament without the fruit of the Spirit growing in us, we can experience condemnation and death.  The letter will indeed kill all joy and peace and even the desire to live holy as we try to obey God in our own strength!

And this is a grim, unpleasant, hard, and unhappy way to follow God.  I know, because I lived that way for the first 7 or so years of my Christian walk.

But after one is enlightened to understand that the power of the Holy Spirit can and will equip you to walk freed from sin, while cleansing you when you do slip and stumble, one can be filled with great joy and peace while patiently and steadfastly obeying God.

16– So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. …
22– But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23– gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5, NIV

1– Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
3– For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
4– When Christ, who is yourlife, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Colossians 3, NIV

According to these above 2 passages of Scripture, if we will set our minds on the things of God and pursue those things, then we will be focusing on His love, His peace, His joy, His promises, and His love, and His character … and all other things that are “above” … rather than only focusing on the “do this and don’t do that” set of rules of the New Testament.  And as we do this,  the pleasures and the things of this Earth “will grow strangely dim”, as the great old hymn stated.  Or in other words, we will be so Heavenly focused that the Earthly temptations won’t have as strong a pull on us, as we set our hearts and affections on God alone.

So yes, of course the LETTER kills.  Rules and Regulations are condemning, for the sinful flesh fails at keeping rules and regulations and wants to rebel, even as Paul taught.

14-We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.
15-I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
Romans 7, NIV

BUT as we learn to live our lives led by The Spirit of God, filled with the fruit of the Spirit of God, keeping on minds on what the Spirit desires, we will see that obeying God’s commands are definitely NOT burdensome.  If we can learn to keep our minds on the glory that is to come, and learn to remember that pleasing God has great benefit in this life and also in the life that is coming, then we can joyfully carry out the commands and desires of the Lord … which is exactly what the New Testament teaches in every letter!

2-This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands.
3-In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,
4-for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
1 John 5, NIV

God’s ways will not be burdensome, but we will be encouraged as we grow in holiness, peace, and

We love Him
because He first loved us
1 John 4:19

joy knowing that we are pleasing the Father Who purchased us with the blood of His Son and we will grow in self-control, assurance and in joy as we continually look forward to being made more like Jesus Christ and as we look forward to seeing Him face to Face.   What a glorious day that will be!

3– We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. …
5– But if anyone obeys his word, love for God
is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him:
6– Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. …

15– Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
16– For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
17– The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. …
28– And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.
29If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.
1 John 2, NIV

If living for God, by keeping all the commands that He has written for us, is not a joy-filled experience for you I pray that you will start to pray and seek God’s face to make it such for yourself.  Ask Him to help you sanctify your thoughts so that you can see the beauty of purity and holiness and so that you can have your mind steadfastly set on the reward that is coming to those who love purity and long for Christ’s Return.  Meditate on the promised Glory that is coming to those who love God so that the desires and thoughts of sin will have less hold on you.  By doing this you will be making sure that you have a grand entrance into the next life!
5– For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;
6– and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;
7– and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
8– For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9– But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
10– Therefore, my brothers and sisters,
make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,
11– and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1, NIV

I just read Dr. Michael Brown’s article regarding homosexuality and the Church, in which he states:

The question of “gay Christianity” is not a minor issue. That’s why I welcome the coming separation over this issue. And as painful as the division will be within churches, denominations, ministries, and even families, it is absolutely necessary and unavoidable.

The entire article can be read HERE.

Dr. Brown’s mention of the “coming separation” brought a Scripture to my mind.  It was the Scripture which states:

Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the
harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather up the tares and bind
them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.”

The entire Matthew 13 Scripture Passage reads this way:

24 Jesus presented another parable to them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field.
25 “But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went away.
26 “But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also.
27 “The slaves of the landowner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’
28 “And he said to them, ‘An enemy has done this!’ The slaves said to him, ‘Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?’
29 “But he said, ‘No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them.
30 ‘Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.”’”

This Passage of Scripture also speaks of separation, even as Dr. Brown writes.   A separation of wheat from tares.  And we seem to be the generation witnessing this great separation starting, as we see many different schisms forming with the “body” of Christ, ie:  mystical, gnostic believers who run after every new revelation, teaching and prophecy  VS  believers who maintain that only the Bible is to believed and sought after, as well as believers who continue to live in sin and accept sin while stating “God is love”  VS  believers who say, “Yes, God is love but God is also Holy and unchanging, and since His Word says that those who practice sin will perish, then this is the Truth to believe and hold on to”.

Both schisms that I mention are becoming more distinct.  Lines are indeed being drawn in the sand, and soon it will be impossible to straddle the fence between the two parties, who each call themselves believers.

It makes the warning in 2 Corinthians, Chapter 6 more real for this hour that we are currently living in, which reads:

14 Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?
15 Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?

16 Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said,

17 “Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE,” says the Lord.
And I will welcome you.

18 “And I will be a father to you,
And you shall be sons and daughters to Me,”
Says the Lord Almighty.

People are “unbelievers” if the don’t believe the Bible is literal in its statements against sin.  And God says that real believers must come out and be separate from such people,  ‘believers’,  and churches.  Why?  Because the Word says,  “Do not be deceived: “Bad company corrupts good morals.” (1 Corinthians 15:33).  True believers WILL be corrupted and/or compromised in their walk with God if they continue to socialize with their friends and/or family members who refuse to give up sin.

Yes, Christ died for all the sins of the world, and Yes, God is love however …

God will not be mocked (Galatians 6:7).

If God says in His Word that homosexuality is “shameful” (Romans 1:27) and that homosexuals will not inherit His Kingdom (1 Corinthians 6:9,10), then no matter how kind and friendly and generous and loving our homosexual friend or family member is, that person is not a real Christian and God says that person will die in their sin.

Real love will therefore witness to that friend or family member and pray for that person, but real love for God will also believe God at His Word and separate from the friend or family member in obedience to God’s Word if that person will not repent and turn from their sin.

So SEPARATION will happen.   And it must happen.    For Scripture states that a separating of the tares and wheat will come about in the End and real Bible believing Christians MUST separate from tares who continue to walk in their sin in obedience to 2 Corinthians 6, which was quoted above, and in obedience to other Scriptures which mandate the same.

The separation is coming.  May God give us the ability, the stamina, the faith, and the desire to truly pray earnestly for those whom we know and love, who are tares and who will not give up their sinful ways.  “The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much” (James 5:16).

28 Now, little children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.
29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born of Him.

– 1 John 2

Hebrews 10 says:

26 – For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
27 – but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES.
28 – Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
29 – How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?
30 – For we know Him who said, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY.” And again, “THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE.”
31 – It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Fight for your freedom.
Don’t take on-going sin in your life lightly.
Take to fasting and prayer, in your fight for freedom, if need be.
Make freedom from on-going and persistent sin, your goal and desire.
Fear God and hate evil.

Christ was brutally punished and died so that you could be freed from the power of sin (Romans 6), so please do not treat Christ’s blood as ‘common’ (NLT) and insult God’s Spirit of grace.

It is joyfully reported from pulpits today:

I did not come to judge the world, but to save it – John 14:47, NIV

This verse is met with claps and loud “Amens” in the charismatic churches I have been attending, as the preacher goes on to proclaim other supporting verses, such as:

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him – John 3:17, NIV

But such preachers are forgetting to read and teach the entirety of Christ’s Gospel to their congregations and are therefore leading many astray as many so-called believers today think that one prayer of salvation gets them into Heaven and that there is absolutely nothing else required of them.  After all, God is love and Christ died to save sinners. Just believe and be saved. That’s the whole Gospel, right?

But listen to Christ’s words which surround the “I did not come to judge the world, but to save it” statement:

47As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it.
48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. – John 12, NIV

The very words that Christ spoke WILL CONDEMN people in the last day…people who say they are believers yet do not obey Christ’s words.

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
47 I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words … and does not put them into practice  (he) is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.” – Luke 6, NIV

Combine this statement with:

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. – Matthew 7, NIV

Add these Truths with James’ teaching … James who grew up in the same household with Jesus:

22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. – James 1, NIV

Deceptive words are indeed coming from today’s pulpits.  Words of “peace” and “safety” when really Judgement and the Day of God’s Wrath is on its way.   Preachers are telling masses everywhere that “you are loved just the way you are”, that you are “accepted in the beloved”, and that God is out to bless you and not harm you.

While these are Truths, these are half Truths without the full Gospel being preached to hearers to tell people how to walk pleasing to God, so that God’s blessings can come into our lives:

3 It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;
4 that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable,
5 not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God;
6 and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him. The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you.
7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
8 Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit. – 1 Thessalonians 4

In other words, IT DOES MATTER how you live and God WILL judge the one who does not obey His Words.
James 1:22 (above) said, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves” … and we would do well to believe and obey these words.  It is up to US whether we will be deceived or not.

So watch over yourself … you very own eternal soul.  Guard your heart and your mind closely and choose to obey God’s Words alone!  Weigh every preacher’s sermon against the Word of God and be careful about who you will believe and be taught by … even when you seem to be the only one looking at the Word and actually reading it and obeying it.  If God says YOU WILL BE CONDEMNED if you don’t obey Christ’s Words, then believe God!  Don’t believe the preachers.

Current charismatic preachers can seem so “right” on their large platforms in front of huge gatherings, with their successful ministries and extremely zealous and seemingly concerned way of stressing to you that YOU ARE SAVED without a change in your attitude or lifestyle.  After all, “God is love!!!”  They seem so right as they point fingers in people’s faces who oppose this teaching, while dogmatically stressing to their hearers, “IT IS BY GRACE ALONE THAT YOU ARE SAVED”.    (If they truly love and have such great concern for their congregations and want them to walk in the peace, grace, joy, and love of God, they should just as zealously be teaching the people HOW to walk freed from the mastery of sin!)

But it is not your preachers words that will save you at the End of this Age of Grace!
No matter HOW dogmatically and convincingly he can preach this message!
47 “As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him.  For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it.  48   There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him t the last day. –
John 12, NIV

9 Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor
adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. –
1 Corinthians 6, NIV

7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
8 The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. –
Galatians 6, NIV
 7 Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous;
8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. –
1 John 3, NASB

15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his
eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father
but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever. …   24 See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is what he promised us—even eternal life. 26 I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. –
They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie
12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. –
2 Thessalonians 2:11,12  NIV

Seems satan has no real new tricks.  Just a new generation of people who don’t know his old tricks.  That makes deception easy for him really, for he doesn’t have to come up with anything new over the ages.  Just wait for a new generation who don’t read the Bible or study Church History much.

And the satanic deception I am touching on today is the lie that “You won’t die”.

Look at the lie.  “YOU WILL NOT SURELY DIE” said satan to Eve, as he tempted her to eat of the fruit from the tree which God had told Adam not to eat from:

Genesis 2:15The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16And the LordGod commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”

Satan, using God’s own words, told Eve:

Genesis 3:4You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman.

You will not surely die“.  Satan used God’s own words and told Eve this was not how God meant it.

And here is the lie I have recently been hearing from a pulpit … more than once:

When you read in the New Testament that anyone living in sin, or giving in to their sinful desires,  ‘WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD’ it DOES NOT MEAN they won’t get into Heaven.  That is not what these passages are talking about at all.  It means you won’t inherit the blessings of the Kingdom of God while alive on Earth.  You see, you are saved by God’s Grace alone … by the blood of Jesus Christ only … and nothing you can do will ever remove you from God’s love or forgiveness or Heaven.  So these passages do not mean you will not get into Heaven.  You simply will not be walking in God’s health and abundance and provision and peace and joy while on Earth.  But you are still saved.

In other words:  YOU WILL NOT SURELY DIE and be separated from God.

Same lie.  Same satan.  Same old deception and twisting of God’s Words to mean the opposite of what God has said.

But am I correct?   Or is the preacher correct?   Let’s look at SCRIPTURE to see:

2 Corinthians 11 (NIV):

2I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. 3But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 4For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. 5But I do not think I am in the least inferior to those “super-apostles.” 6I may not be a trained speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way.

In this Passage I see Paul preaching EXACTLY what I am stating:  That the Church is being deceived EXACTLY as Eve was deceived, with the same lie given to Eve, by satan through his workers who state, “You can live as you want.  Do what you want.  You don’t have to obey God’s laws.  There is freedom and no condemnation in Christ Jesus.  You will NOT die and go to hell when you live as you want, because once you are saved you are always saved.  It is a free gift of God and not by your works”.  But Paul was fighting this teaching in order to present a “PURE VIRGIN”, or a pure Church, to Christ, as other Scriptures show us:

Ephesians 5 (NIV):

3But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.a 6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7Therefore do not be partners with them.

Let us break this Ephesians Passage down:
There should not even be a HINT of sin amongst us.  Wow.  I don’t really need to go into details about this, as I am quite positive everyone can think of how many Christians look just like the world, divorce and remarry just like the world, go to the same comedy clubs and night clubs as the world, Christians go to movies just like the world, Christians tell the same jokes, and very sadly, it is reported that Christian men are just as addicted to porn as the world!

And Paul says WE CAN BE POSITIVELY SURE that such people, who live in such ways, have no inheritance … not ANY inheritance at all … in the Kingdom of God and Christ.

But does this mean such people simply will not be blessed with Kingdom blessings while on this Earth, but are still saved by the blood, with Heaven as their eternal home?  Well, Paul states, LET NO ONE DECEIVE YOU, for it is because of the sinful ways of mankind that the wrath of God is coming on the Earth.

It doesn’t say here that the Wrath of God is coming on the Earth because people have refused to believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.  It says the Wrath of God is coming because of sin.  So, maybe this is another doctrine taught in current Churches which is wrong too (see HERE for my recent thoughts on this matter).

The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (1852), by British Artist John Martin (1789-1854)

Let NO ONE deceive you” … not the evangelist who has a huge following.  Not the Pastor who can preach up a storm.  Not the prophet who gets to see angels every day of his life and visit the third Heaven whenever he wishes.  Let NO ONE deceive you:  It is because of sin that God’s Wrath is coming upon the disobedient.  THEREFORE DO NOT BE PARTNERS WITH THEM.   In other words, don’t partner with them and find yourself under God’s Wrath yourself.  Really?  Does Scripture support this statement of mine?  Let’s look further.

Hebrews 10:26 (NIV):

If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left

Deliberately sinning, as I’ve tried to make clear in my other Posts, is the key word!   For those who are trying to overcome, and who will fight and struggle against sin in their lives, are showing they believe God at His Word and are fighting for righteousness and holiness in their lives.  They are trying to obey 2 Corinthians 7 which states:

2 Corinthians 7 (NIV):

1Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God

When we fight against sin … with prayer, with faith, with resistance, with fasting, with “just saying no” … we are perfecting holiness out of reverence and love for God.  We are showing Him that we believe Him at His Word and we are showing Him that we love and have reverence for Him AND His Word and His desires and His will for our lives.

And I pray that all of us, dear brothers and sisters, will continue in God’s strength and power and in His Word, filled with grace and faith and joy, in our fight to dominate sin in our lives.  We must not grow weary in our doing good, for in time we will reap a harvest IF we do not give up:

Galatians 6 (NIV):

7Do not be deceived: (there are those words again … DO NOT BE DECEIVED!) God  cannot  be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that naturea will reap destruction;  the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Destruction comes to the one who sows to the flesh, or who lives according to the desires of his flesh.  And destruction, in this very context, is contrasted with ETERNAL LIFE.   Therefore, destruction in this context CANNOT mean simply not inheriting blessings on Earth.

The Scriptures in this Post are clear:  Destruction (Galatians 6:9) and no sacrifice left for the one who deliberately continues in sin (Hebrews 10:26) belongs to the “Christian” who chooses to live in sin, with all that is left being the Wrath of God (Ephesians 5:6).  Please don’t be deceived by preachers.  Believe the Word of God only.

Hebrews 10 (NIV):

26If we deliberately  keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth,  no sacrifice for sins  is left, 27but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.

Scripture seems to be clear … you make yourself an enemy of God if you will continue to LIVE in sin, even if you “prayed a prayer of salvation”!   Yes, scripture seems to be very clear … and Pastors are found to be teaching another Gospel when we compare their message to the Word of God.  The Church is being deceived by the same lie that satan gave Eve at the beginning in the Garden of Eden, “You will not surely die.

But God has stated the opposite.

Who’s side would you like to be found on when you stand at the Judgment Seat of Christ, people?

Does God Promise us BLESSINGS when we become Christians?  Yes, He does.  But how about starting with the first and greatest blessing of all:

Acts 3:26 (NIV)
When God raised up His servant (Jesus), He sent Him first to you
(Jews) to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways

Freedom FROM sin and wickedness … NOT Freedom TO sin and live wickedly … is the greatest and first blessing God is offering to all people everywhere.

Acts 3:19 (NIV):

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord

True blessing and refreshment from the Lord starts with turning FROM sin.
Trust God today to cleanse you AND FREE you from the bondage and strongholds of sin in your life.
